About WxDownload's Search Enhancing Feature

The WxDownload browser add­on includes a search enhancing feature that allows you to quickly view search results from your favorite sites without having to leave the search window to visit those sites directly. WxDownload is free to download and use, and is supported by website display advertising, including sponsored ads shown when making search queries. How do I disable it?

You may disable the search feature without uninstalling WxDownload by following instructions on this page. Please note that deleting your local storage data may re­enable the search feature, as these files determine your search setting. Also, deleting your browser cookies may also re­enable the search feature in browsers other than Internet Explorer, because deleting cookies will automatically delete your local storage data in these browsers.

How do I get this off my computer?

To remove the search feature from your computer, you must uninstall WxDownload. Please select your applicable uninstall instructions from the options below.

Uninstalling from a PC:

  1. Go to the Windows Start Menu and select "Control Panel".
  2. Select either "Add/Remove" or "Programs & Features", whichever appears in your operating system.

Uninstalling from Your Browser:

If you downloaded WxDownload using a browser installer instead of an .exe PC installer, you will need to uninstall WxDownload from your browser. If you don't see WxDownload in your Add/Remove programs, this likely applies to you. This method may also be used if you want to uninstall WxDownload from a specific browser, but keep it in on other browsers.
  1. In the tools menu of your browser, select "Extensions" (sometimes called "Add­ons")
  2. Select WxDownload and click "Uninstall" OR "Remove."

Uninstalling from a Mac:

  1. In the top menu of your browser, click on the settings menu and select "Preferences."
  2. Next, select "Extensions" from the window preferences window.
  3. Select WxDownload and click "Uninstall" OR "Remove."

In addition to the search results you would normally get, the Search Enhancer provides you with a quick and easy way to see what sites such as Twitter, Flickr and eBay are showing. Click any of the icons within the Search Enhancer to see that sites top results for your search term.
